KLB

Not much kiting went on the last weeks

After Wanlo, which finished this really busy and crazy season I taught it would be nice to have a little kite break of maybe two weeks. It lastet for 5 days, then I was totally hungry for the next session.

Unfortunately the weather didn´t allow much kiting. Since the KLB in Wanlo i´ve just been kiting three times, and never fully powered. We had nearly calmness or totally gusty 40+ knots winds, and then neither enough snow for snowkiting nor allowing landboarding.

So I spent my time with working, learning and my friends at home.

Last weekend I went with a group of landboarders, Pascal, Emma, Passi, Maik & Flo to the dutch landboard championchip in Ijmuiden, trying to kick the dutchees ass.

The forecast look promising, but it didn´t keep right.

After getting up at 5am, Ijmuiden was grey and in snowrain and cold when we arrived. The wind was light and offshore the hole weekend.

Saturday we did freeriding on the hard beach and hanging out, because the organisator decided it was not enough for competition. The evening we spent in a nice flat mike organiced, eating pizza and drinking beer.

Sunday then the same game, just with some more sun. Then we headed home.

So i´m sad that I couldn´t capture much footage with my pentax toy till now.

Hopefully the weather is kindly with us, and allows landboarding or snowkiting soon.

German Champion KLB Race, Wanlo

I managed it! I´m Gearman Champion in KLB Race. I´d like to thank my sponsors, especially Peter Lynn, for making me possible to reach this goal.
But let´s go two days back first. It´s Friday evening, continuous raining, and I´m driving, despite of the horrible weather forecast, to Wanlo. Nevertheless everybody is in a good mood and we have a nice opening party.
The next day starts with a weather wonder. It stops to rain and some wind comes up, so that freestyle can be started. I´ve picked no easy batch with Lennart van Schuilenberg and was kicked out in my first heat of the singles, after I had no time to make a warm up ride. Luckily it didn´t stayed like that, in the double elimination I won 5 heats, this time even against Lennart, and just had
to abandon the field in the half final against the German champ Yannick. Saturday evening the Freestyle winners were rewarded. In the weekendranking in became 4th, and 3rd German. In the Overall rank I ended on the 5th place behind team mate Romain, and 4th German. Congrats to the Winners Yannick, Emmanuel and Joey!
Afterwards was, as always in Wanlo, the party way celebrated.
Sunday the weather luck was overstrunged, and in fact of low winds and rain no race could be started at all. But I could figure out in the Test rounds, that also the Speed 21 is no risk for me.
The Race Tour Winners were rewarded, after I won all Stops I had a serious lead before Pascal(3rd) and Yannick(2nd) and am now German Champion.

SPO, buggyraces, licence seminar

What´s happened since the buggy WC?

Thursday evening I drove for the last time this year to SPO, because of the buggyraces.

Any training on Friday was dropped because it was windless and rainy.

On Saturday the conditions were much better and in strong offshore winds four Master races and three Open races were held. Even though I like these conditions I had really bad luck and had in every race collisions and folded kites. After a cold night with frozen windows in the bus, we drove Sunday the 5th and last Masterrace in light winds, which I could win. Despite from this the Saturday took me the leading and kicked me to place four.

I stayed for some more days in SPO to take the last passable kitesurf temperatures and to meet other Teamriders. The forecast was promising, so we drove, after a nice landboardsession to Büsum. Unfortunately a friend of me had a really bad kitesurf accident. I wish her all the best, a fast recovery and much energy to become fast fit again. In order that something doesn´t happen again, ill advice all to leaf enough space to all danger spots, especially in the lee. Thats means far more then one line lengths. In case you drift to close, release your kite before you risk your health, also this means some effort. My motivation for kitesurfing was not big after this, but I stayed in SPO for some more days.

After one day home of repairing and preparing I drove Friday morning with Pascal to the first KLB Instructor Course taking place on the kitearea in Münsterappel. We had much to peruse, and that others were kiting in best winds didn´t made it easier for us. After a written exam on Sunday we could finally kite a bit ourself. We didn´t received results yet, but i´m confident to passed it. Then you can gain the KLB licence from me in the near future.

Whats happening next?

At the weekend there´s a back country race on the kitearea, we can kite in Wanlo with increased regularity, which is fresh mowed and in 10 days takes the KLB final place there.

Much rain, wind and a first place in race at the KLB Dornum

Just minutes after my arrival my car got stuck deeply on the wet camping grass and I had to persevere in a sloping position till Saturday morning. The weather was as the forecast promised with showers of rain and freshen winds the whole day. We started with two races, then the single elimination and upcoming the double was started which took time till the evening because the rain breaks. Unfortunately I had to compete against my Teammate Romain two times. In the Single I endet up third, but the double kicked me back to the fourth Place unfortunately. In the evening most riders came together in the Kites and Coffee Tent as already the evening before. After a Night with even more rain the grasspot was extremely wet Sunday morning, but the rain was gone for the moment so the outstanding three races were started. The slippy ground and gusty wind demanded the riders much. On the upwind courses I could expand my leading and so I won in the race judging once more. In face I was pretty ill i´m really happy with the results and look after this weekend forward to my dry home and a long hot shower.

KLB Masters Dornumersiel- Nice weather and concerts

I woke up in my van at the spot- sun and wind. After a fast breakfast and saying welcome to the lynn team and some others I wanted to go fast onto my board after the past windless times.

On Thursday happened nothing beside the concerts in the evening and Friday were just two funraces holden. Saturday started with two races which I ended up only second with much crashes and in really gusty winds, as already the day before. After this t the high jump contest was started and ongoing freestyle where I passed out in the third heat. Unfortunately team member Caren from UK broke her leg during some buggying- get well soon! Sunday morning I had to start in buggyfreestyle cause I was convinced Saturday night. I went out in the heat against Will from uk, one of the worlds best – so it´s no shame for me I think. The weather didn´t allowed board double´s-rain.

Conclusion: Three and a half great kite days and fine concerts but unfortunately not much competitions.

My second residence- AC AF, backstreet behind the house at the dike in SPO

On Friday i packet the car with a lot of kitestuff and some other fungear and drove off to the Worldcup in SPO. We had a great week there as already the years before! Much wind, even more Kiters, a giant event and at least great party´s and a lot of fun! Wednesday Florian from Berlin came to help me with the Promo. And the week flew by like crazy.

Actually it was my plan to go home after the Worldcup and i also hadn´t packed fot the buggyraces on römö, but much people stayed longer in SPO and i also really enjoyed it there. Luckily i could organize that my buggy was brought to the races on Römö and so i had one more week nearly the same in SPO, just in the Köm and Riff instead of the Worldcup.

On Saturday i drove after really good kitesessions and much fun to the Buggycamp on Römö. The buggybeach welcomed me, as common wet but the wind was good so i went with a bit rain into the danish waves. Unfortunately i received the payback for that much kiting and two weeks with only cheese buns and became sick, but i could cope with that in fact it was not much wind. After some days i was fit again but still not enough wind and a wet beach. I had some sweet landboardsessions and Friday we could drive buggyraces on a dry beach which i won. One day before the beach was still totally wet. Concerning the fact that Römö is dead after 9pm, we had also enough fun in the evening hours.

After one week i went back to SPO and continued then with my tournee resp. One week taking promo tour. I´ve been to Cuxhafen, Schillig, Norddeich, Saaler Bodden, Pepelow, Pelzerhaken, Fehmarn And Laboe. I saw much spots, some of them were really great, the wind was also often on my site and I could also kitesurf by myself. Sunday i drove home from Laboe. After four weeks and some days it´s quite nice to be home. But the day after tomorrow i have to leave again to the KLB Masters in Dornumersiel.

Some pics of the Buggyraces and me with the Stxy during the Worldcup in SPO:

One day and nine hours driving. I can´t believe how much stuff was in my car the last weeks.

Tour #1

I arrived Esbjrerg Tuesday the 15th around midday. After taking a look through the city, I reached the ferry just in time. Beach side I directly went Kitesurfing in nice Conditions with the Charger 10. We had really a great week on Fanö with the Team! Every day good winds with much sun, much Kitesurfing and Landboarding and also Freestylebuggying. The racebuggy was also token time to time. One day was stormy and I was with the 10m Charger in winds till 40 knots as powered as never before! The Kite festival is of course also pretty to watch and we hat much fun in the evenings. All in all a really priceless Midsummer Week. Klick for the PL-News Fanö: Klick

Monday I continued driving over Römö to Sylt for the Kitesurfworldcup. Unfortunately the weather changed and we had one week not enough wind for prudent kitesurfing. Westerland is not the city of my Dreams as well, so I spent the most time with Stand up Paddeling in Sylts waves, and watching the cover events, the Bands, the public viewing and enjoying the Party’s.

On Sunday I was pretty happy to continue my trip to SPO.

Unfortunately the weather didn´t change – hot and windless. One day we went to the cable park, the other days were spent only with Buggying. On Friday the most competitors for the buggyraces arrives and with em my new Vapors :-) .

Clock-like to the buggyraces nice kitesurfwinds came on :-/ and my results were also not really fame worth even I won one race. I ended up the Season on the 5th Place, not podium but okay. The PL news from the races in SPO:  Klick

Now I´m happy to be home after three weeks, and I´m going to continue the built out of my van.

Twice Podium at KLB Tating

At the 2nd klb tourstop a kiters dream came true- fines golfgrass at the golffield deichgraf in tating.
Much were alredy frieday there to savor that as much as possible. We were chilling in the Fatboys in relaxed atmosphere and sun. With the upcoming evening the wind dropped up and we could jump gainly. Unfortunally i misanstimated my jump and landet in the waterdivide. Once wet i went surfing on the pond. The evening endet with Irish drinks in egans pub. On saturday we started with 2 races, then the singleround in freestyle in moderate wind and two low wind races again on the demanding parcour.
Saturday evening the Bands „Das Beben“ and „Bionic Fist Fuckers“ were rocking the golffield really well.
On sunday was one last race in less wind started which ended in rain.
In Race i took the first place, in freestyle the 3rd together with Peter Grothe.
Now i have a little competitionbreak, we will regardless meet at the beach!
So check the news and the PL-page.

Berlin Tempelhof

Last Weekend was the grand opening of the Airfield Berlin Tempelhof for the public.

We had nice weather but not much wind and space, therefore 200 000 visitors we could show some kite action with buggy, landboard and biiig foils in times of more than zero wind.

Saturday evening we went into Berlins nightlife :)
